AFTERCARE

If you are wearing a bandage:

  • For the next 2 weeks limit sun exposure on your new tattoo and do not submerge your tattoo in water.

  • Leave the bandage on for up to 4 days. It is there for your convenience so if you’d like to take it off after one day you’re welcome to. While you are wearing the bandage you do not have to wash or moisturize your new tattoo. The bandage is water resistant so you may shower with it but do not soak it. New tattoos leak blood, ink, and plasma so you will see a black/brown liquid build up in your wrap. That’s normal. Feel free to remove the wrap if you feel there is an excess of liquid.

  • When you’re ready to remove the bandage I recommend doing so in a shower with warm water. Pull the bandage down towards the ground, not out towards the wall. Clean your tattoo with a gentle, fragrance free liquid soap. Do not use bar soap as it can hold onto bacteria. Moisturize after each wash with a gentle, fragrance free moisturizer (NOT Aquaphor. Something light like Lubriderm, Cerave, or Cetaphil). Apply a thin layer to the tattoo.

  • Remember your tattoo is now an open wound. Be sure to wash your hands with a gentle, fragrance-free soap before you clean or moisturize your tattoo. Clean your tattoo 2-3 times a day. Moisturize your tattoo 3-5 times a day. Repeat each day for 2 weeks.

  • Your tattoo will peel and skin will flake off. That is normal. Do not itch or pick at your tattoo.

  • Please do not hesitate to reach out to me via text or DM with any questions you may have about healing!
